The Bible says, “Be anxious for nothing!” But how when there is a cancer diagnosis? Here are three things to decrease anxiety today and remind yourself, “I am healed because He said so.”
- Read the Bible aloud.
- Take a break from caffeine.
- Text your prayer team.
I heard God say two years ago, “Take a break from drinking. Get thermography.” But I didn’t listen. I justified ignoring that thought by saying, “I don’t drink that much and I’m healthy.”
I gave my life to Jesus when I was 7 years old. I went to church on Sundays, attended Bible groups, and really loved my quiet time with Him first thing every morning. The main way I heard from God was by reading the Bible. I admired my friends that would get visions while praying. I thought it was so special that God talked to them in pictures in their mind.
I’d hear the Holy Spirit quietly prompting me to share a Bible verse or give financially to someone.
I didn’t recognize His voice the first time. I heard God say it again 8 months later, “Take a break from drinking. Get thermography.” I’d never heard from God like that before.
I was getting a massage and I told her what I had heard from God and if she knew of a place. She said, “I work part-time doing thermography scans in Solana Beach!” What is so interesting is I first heard from God when I started seeing this new massage therapist! I’m glad He spoke to me again.
There have been lots of emotions since getting thermography in October 2021. Fear and anxiety knock me out the most.

3 Tips to Decrease Anxiety and Remember I Am Healed Because He Said So!
Many successful high achievers are never diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Anxiety feels normal and it is just something you plow through for the next sale, podcast interview, or business decision.
TIP 1: Read The Bible Aloud.
Maybe your friend, counselor, or business coach told you to journal. But journaling is hard. Acknowledging your feelings is hard if you didn’t grow up in a family that taught you how to do that. Reading the Bible aloud is so much easier!
There are little books with God’s promises. Flip to the anxiety chapter.
Psalms is a great book to read aloud. David has so many emotions and teaches you how to pray powerfully. I’m in week 7 of this book Praising God Through Prayer and Worship.
The Bible talks a lot about healing. What you believe and speak about impacts your life. Anchor yourself to God’s promises.
Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
That’s a prophecy for the future.
This one is past tense. So you’ll notice a word is different.
1 Peter 2:24 “He Himself bore our sins” in His Body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by His wounds you have been healed.”
You have been healed!
Friend, you are healed because He said so. Walk in your healing!
This isn’t a future thing. Stop saying, “God is healing me from xyz.” Stand firm saying, “I am healed.”
You can play this video where he goes over many healing Bible verses or I typed them out for you, so stand up and read them aloud.
Psalm 103: 1-5 (NIV) Praise the LORD, O my could; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the LORD, O my sound, and forget not all His benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.
Matthew 4:23-24 Jesus went through Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about Him spread all over Syria, and people brought to Him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and He healed them.
Matthew 9:25 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness.
Matthew 12:15 Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. A large crowd followed Him, and He healed all who were ill.
Matthew 14:13-14 When Jesus heard what had happened, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed Him on foot from the towns. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed the sick.
Matthew 14:34-36 People brought all their sick to Him and begged His to let the sick just touch the edge of His cloak, and all who touched Him were healed.
Matthew 15:30 Great crowds came to Him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and laid them at His feet; and He healed them.
Matthew 19:2 Large crowds followed Him, and He healed them there.
Matthew 21:14 The blind and the lame came to Him at the temple, and He healed them.
Do you see a pattern?
Jesus healed them of every disease and illness. You may be thinking I wish Jesus was here right now. He is here. He gave that same authority to the church. We are seated with Him.
Ephesians 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realm in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations.
James 5:14-16 Is anyone sick among you? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Mark 16:18 They will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.
There are so many great sermons on healing and Bible verses. Be encouraged, friend.
TIP 2: Take a Break From Caffeine.
This really works. Just try it for 1 week. I love it when my husband makes me an Americano with organic espresso Cafe Moto beans. Or maybe you are like me and justify that having an organic green tea after breakfast helps you focus and get your work done more efficiently.
The label decaf is misleading! Decaf coffee or decaf tea just means it has less caffeine. But how much less? It could be just a little. So it’s still caffeine and can make that anxiety stick around.
In stressful seasons or weeks, it’s best to stick to hot water with lemon, herbal tea, or organic grass-fed beef bone broth if you want something warm.
Depending on how addicted you are to caffeine, you’ll have some withdrawals, so that’s why I recommend a week. You also may need to take a nap as your body adjusts.
If you feel less anxiety, continue for a second week until you are feeling better.
TIP 3: Text Your Prayer Team
This one is hard for people that pride themselves on independence. Some days I’ll struggle for days praying on my own before I tell my husband or my prayer team I need their help to fight for me strategically in prayer.
My prayer team includes my pastor and a handful of friends.
They aren’t there to advise me or fix whatever I’m anxious about. If they are available, some give me a call and pray for me over the phone. Many times the anxiety lifts. Other times they text back that they are praying for me or record a voice message text, reminding me that I am healed because He says so.
Some of the local ladies we’ve gone on a prayer beach walk at Torry Pines.
Other ladies on my prayer team pray for me before we do stand-up paddleboard.
If you don’t have a prayer team or friends that believe in miracles and healing still happen now. It helps to connect with a local church and attend the women’s groups to make new friends.
Faith + Life
I added a new blog category. Faith + Life, there are a bunch more faith-building stories and strategies I can share if it’s helpful to you.
Some of you reading may want to know more. This is a rare type of cancer. I traveled to talk to the top 4 cancer centers to meet with a team of doctors. I asked God to reveal the truth in those doctor’s appointments. Multiple centers said, “I recommend you do XYZ, but it doesn’t work.” I’d always take someone with me and ask, “Did you hear them say it doesn’t work?” YEP!
Through research, I wanted to understand how you know you are cancer-free. What tests can you do?
I picked 3 clinics and 3 tests. In February, I got the 3 labs back; they showed what I’m doing is working!
One doctor said, “I wouldn’t put you in that box of having cancer. Your blood looks so good!”
But as I shared the good news with friends and family, their fear impacted me for the past couple of months. My joy was stolen and replaced with anxiety. I retest this summer and know I’ll share that I am healed.
These 3 tips I shared will help you if you struggle with anxiety. I want to hear you shout I am healed!
Take Action!
I love that you read this blog, but I want to hear stories of how anxiety doesn’t impact you anymore. What has helped you? Take action on one of these three, then message me on LinkedIn or Instagram.
